Polygon Siskiu T8 Review

The Siskiu T8 has a fantastic all-around performance and was a close runner up for our Editor’s Choice Award. This mid-travel trail bike is comfortable and downright fun to ride up, down, and all over. It does not particularly excel at any thing that is specific, it is just good at everything. The longer we snapped the Siskiu, the more we grew to enjoy it and it became a tester favorite because of its constant and well-rounded performance that responds to rider input and does not hold you back. The geometry is modern, but along with the 140mm of front and rear wheel suspension feels balanced and performs better than most bikes in this price range.

High speeds or low rates, mellow or gnarly, we didn’t find a situation where the Siskiu felt out of place. This really is one of only two bikes a massive compliment for such an affordable bike, in this review that our testers felt riding as hard as they could. The 74.5-degree seat tube angle feels appropriately steep and sets you almost right over the cranks for power transfer that is solid. The reach is too bloated or moderate so that you don’t feel too stretched out, and steering feels direct and not prone to drifting. The 1194mm wheelbase is a great length which never feels too long and is capable in rate that is reduced terrain that is technical and tight.

Mountain Bike Review

Polygon is one of many bike brands that is working with a consumer direct sales model. This enables them to skip the middle man and pass the savings to the consumer so that you can theoretically get more. This is performance that far exceed the asking price and how it is with the Siskiu T8. The Siskiu set up a good fight for our Editor’s Choice Award with an superb performance and competent trail manners. It might not be the model we analyzed, but the price to construct and performance ratio can not be overcome.

The cockpit setup is dialed straight from the box and we didn’t feel the necessity to make any changes. The briefer than advertised dropper seat pole that came on our test version dismayed us, but that didn’t take away from this bike prowess. Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires haven’t been our favorite before, but we were amazed to love the way they performed on this bicycle. The width of the rims seemed to pair well with the tire width and gave them a great profile which maintained cornering grip and exceeded our expectations.

The well-rounded functionality of this Siskiu T8 is among the main reasons this bicycle is so enjoyable to ride. Whether you are just cruising or trying to conquer your time the Siskiu feels prepared for whatever comes your way and composed. The superior part spec doesn’t hurt and certainly makes this bike feel much more shred ready than the majority of the bikes in this review. It’s not the most lively bicycle on descents, nor does it feel completely glued to the floor, it strikes a nice balance where it likes the side wants to only rally your intended line down and really hit.

Despite being slightly more costly we do believe this represents a fantastic value considering this is among our highest rated models with a functionality and a quality build for the purchase price. They have put a brief 45mm stalk and a nice wide handlebar on the bike’s front. This combo is comfortable and offers handling. The Entity saddle has been more comfortable than we expected with medium density padding and a fantastic width. The saddle sits atop an unbranded dropper seat post that’s supposed to get 150mm of travel. For some reason, our test bike came with a travel seat post, and out testers found themselves stretching it beyond the minimum insertion line to match not ideal. The dropper worked well and we liked the under-mount 1x lever that it comes with.

Conclusion

It was a tough struggle for the top step of the podium in our below $2500 mountain bike review. The Siskiu T8 was narrowly edged out from the YT Jeffsy however, it remains one of the highly regarded bikes in this price range. The Siskiu performs on the descents and climbs, at any speed, and in any type of terrain. This bike is far more effective than you would expect a build and confidence-inspiring route manners which exceed the asking price. If you’re searching for an affordable trail bike that can do it you could go wrong with all the Siskiu T8.
